The first time I had to call 911 was a nightmare. I had some information on my Father’s
conditions and meds but I was not prepared.
When we arrived at the ER, I faced the same questions asked by the EMS. I learned
that the EMS does not always give the information to the ER, or it can be misplaced in
the chart, even lost. When the Doctor determined that my Father would be admitted,
the same questions were being asked of me a third time.
As time went on, I learned what is needed in a 911 situation. Once my Father's
Personal Readiness plan was complete, I realized many people had to be in this same
situation. I came to realize that people have a responsibility to make sure their medical
information is available, so the best medical decisions can be made.
